/ statement
The will to create is as ingrained in the human condition as is the act of breathing. Its part of us. Our nature drives us towards this and is evident through our existence.
The arts and sciences are our most concrete acts for mimicking this force. In music, the will to create is evidenced in the waves of sound that reach at us, pull at us, and through us. In physics, we are approaching the doorway of a Unified Theory. In dance, we are witness to and part of the visceral, organic, disciplined manner in which the body responds to the mind. In chaos theory, there are the harmonic mathematics of disorder and connectivity. In the visual arts, there is the synthesis of stimuli into a physical reality that hopefully resembles something demonstrating the effect of that stimuli at that particular moment.
In these areas, we witness the connection between meaning to medium.
Im obsessed by how meaning is represented by medium. / / how time, tools and process, dictate the directions for representing meaning and how the medium interpolates that meaning. / / how these activities weave the two back together.
Meaning is based on linguistics.
Medium is the intervention.
I believe that given our current state of technology, culture, and knowledge a serious investigation into this genre of thought is more plausible now more than ever.
on meaning
Human society has grown through the proliferation of ideas. Now, more than ever, this proliferation of thought has become ubiquitous. We, as a society, have the means to communicate instantly.
Ideas are moving at light speed, not unlike the synapses in our own fleshy interconnected networks.
The forums @ dreamless.org are an indication of this.
on medium
Computational methods and traditional methods are coexisting on a relatively equal basis. Will computational methods eclipse traditional ones? Or is there a symbiotic relationship between the two that is essential to our race?
meaning and medium.
